WLDH Series Ribbon Mixer Overview


The horizontal screw ribbon mixer is a new type of mixing equipment featuring high efficiency, high uniformity, high loading coefficient, low energy consumption, low pollution, and low breakage. It has a wide range of applications and can mix powder with powder, powder with liquid, especially suitable for mixing pasty, viscous, or high-density materials (such as putty, stone-like paint, metal powder, etc.). This equipment is widely used in the fields of pharmaceuticals, food, pesticides, dyes, chemicals, plastics, ceramics, coatings, putty, mortar, etc.

Principle


The horizontal screw ribbon mixer consists of transmission components, a U-shaped barrel, and a double-layer screw agitator. The outer screw ribbon pushes the material from both ends to the middle in conjunction with the rotation direction, while the inner screw ribbon pushes the material from the middle to both ends. The different angles and directions of the screw ribbons make the material produce different flow directions. Through continuous convection and circulation, the material achieves rapid mixing through shear blending.

Filling Coefficient‌: It refers to the ratio of the material volume loaded into the mixer per batch to the total volume of the mixer when mixing materials. It is divided into theoretical filling coefficient and actual filling coefficient. The theoretical filling coefficient refers to the filling point with the highest mixing uniformity, best mixing effect, and most time-saving, generally ranging from 60% to 65% for screw ribbon mixers. The actual filling coefficient refers to the ratio of the actual material loaded into the mixer to its total volume. Too little or too much material can lead to longer mixing times and uneven mixing. Overloading may also damage the mixer.

Jacket selection


In chemical, food, and some special industries, it is required to not only uniformly mix materials but also heat the materials or apply vacuumizing and inert gas protection during mixing. When selecting equipment, a special mixer with a jacket and vacuumizing capability should be chosen. The horizontal screw ribbon mixer can meet various mixing requirements below 100°C and can be specially designed for mixing up to 300°C.


Spray Mixing Selection


In chemical, food, and some special industries, it is required to uniformly mix powder with powder and add a small amount of liquid (<5%) during mixing. When the liquid content is low, it cannot be directly added to the material but should be sprayed into the material during mixing. Therefore, the mixer must have a spray structure.

Mixer Designed for Permissible Heavy-load Starting


During use, the mixer is strictly prohibited from starting with materials loaded. Only specially designed mixers can be started with a heavy load. Mixers with fluid couplings can meet the requirement for heavy-load starting.
